The photo to the left is of Tripsacum zopilotense, which
has unbranched or sparsely branched inflorescences.
The photo above is of Tripsacum pilosum, which has highly branched inflorescences.
Both photos show the female fruitcases at the base of the inflorescences and male
spikelets distally.
